In my practice location in Woodbridge, Virginia, I enjoy working with adults, couples, adolescents, families, and children ages 10 and up. Although I work with people on a variety of different issues, my specialties include couple and family relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and addictions, in particular, addictive relating patterns, infidelity, love and sex compulsions. I have been trained in several strengths-based approaches to include solution-focused, experiential, narrative and cognitive-behavioral therapies as well as dialectical behavior therapy, conjoint family therapy, family systems, attachment, and Adlerian theoretical structures.
For more than 10 years, I have studied cutting edge tools for accelerated success, and have developed my own therapeutic approach,Conscious-Love™ Relationship Therapy, a synthesis of proven psychological interventions, neuroscience, attachment theory, emotional intelligence, energy psychology and the latest findings on the brain and intimate relations. This integration of conventional and alternative approaches draws upon a variety of styles and techniques to provide what is best suited to maximize optimal outcomes for each client.
I believe that therapy should promote not only relief from current stressors, but also make lasting personal change. In my work and educational offerings, I emphasize the importance of relationships. I regard therapy as a powerful experience to deepen self-awareness and empower ourselves to realize the meaningful life and relationships we yearn to actualize. I work with individuals, couples and families dealing with issues, anxiety or depression, that more often than not are connected to current and past significant relationships. I also encourage an abundance of family involvement, particularly, in dealing with parent and child relationship problems, and child and adolescent issues.
In addition to private practice, I have taught as an adjunct professor in the disciplines of psychology, family science and sociology for over 12 years. I received my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2004 from Florida State University, and my M.A. in Psychology in 1996 from the University of West Florida.
